“You did not order the school board to go back and correct the superintendent’s arithmetic. You ordered us to cut the budget by $89,100!” Robert Eastham told the Rappahannock supervisors at Monday’s special budget adoption session.
In a final swipe at 1981-82 expenditures, Eastham repeated charges that the school board has misled the public with “Chinese arithmetic” in acting on an $89,100 reduction in requested appropriations for next year.
In a prepared statement read to the supervisors, he threatened to ask for an examination of schoolfinancial records by the state auditor if the board did not restore $1,250 for an unqualified audit of the cafeteria and activity funds to the 1981-82 budget.
