$30,000 From Error
According to superintendent William Bloomer, approximately $30,000 of the cut will come from adjustments to fixed charges: the employer’s share of social security, life insurance, retirement and hospitalization.
These charges were entered twice for Title I employees who are included in the regular budget for the first time, Bloomer explained. (Previously, federally funded Title I programs for educationally disadvantaged youngsters were covered in a separate budget.)
In addition, benefits and fixed charges for workers in the self-supporting cafeteria program were included in the budget, instead of being reported separately as has been the practice in previous years.
Correction of the double count for Title 1 employees and removal of cafeteria ' workers amounted to $29,427, bringing the„ total reduction to the $89,100 required to meet the supervisors’ directive, according to Bloomer.
