Rappahannock Bankshares, Washington, VA, intends to apply to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System for permission to form a bank holding company at Washington, Virginia. We intend to acquire control of The Rappahannock National Bank, Washington, Virginia. The Federal Reserve considers a number of factors in decid: ing whether to approve the application, including the record of performance of banks we own in helping to meet local credit needs.

You ar invited to submit comments in writing on this application to the Federal Reserve Bank of Richomond, P. 0. Box 27622, Richmond, VA 23261.
