Town Plan Work To Begin
The Washington Planning Commission met on Wednesday, June 26 and discussed ways to begin work on a town comprehensive plan and zoning ordinance. The planners decided to examine comprehensive plans from other small towns and to begin a discussion of what should be in Washington’s plan at its next meeting on Wednesday, July 24 at 8 p.m.
The meeting will not be a public hearing, but anyone wishing to take part in the discussion will be welcome.
The planners also decided to disclose their real estate holdings in town even though they were not required to do so. The state requires that members of governing bodies in localities with a population of over 3,500 to disclose their real estate holdings.
“The state also requires that all members of governing bodies with interests in anything brought before them have to disqualify themselves from any decision,” said Frank Reynolds, planning commission chairman. “We decided that, since we’ll be dealing with the zoning of all parcels of land in town, we would disclose our holdings for the public record.”
• Slaughter Aide To Visit
Congressman D. French Slaughter, Jr. will send his district representative, Jane Clatterbuck, to Rappahannock County on Wednesday, July 10 to meet constituents with problems of a Federal nature.
Clatterbuck will be in Rappahannock at the courthouse from 10:30 a. m. to 11:30 a.m.
