Central Telephone Company of Virginia (Centel) paid more than $2 million in property and other taxes to 60 city, town and county governments across the commonwealth in 1985.
“Our total local tax bill of $2,002,033.21 was up slightly from $1.9 million in 1984 and included property and other tax payments of $19,058.50 to Front Royal and $53,600.55 to Warren County,” said William P. Flippo III, Centers area manager in Front Royal.
Flippo noted that other Front Royal-area local governments to which Centel paid taxes in 1985 were: Rappahannock County ($7,990.59), Fauquier County ($146.15), Page County ($49,549.76), Luray ($9,794.64), Stanley ($1,565.51) and Shenandoah ($3,701.37).
“We trust that these tax payments and those, made by our employees, will help these local governments continue to meet the needs of their citizens,” Flippo said.
Central Telephone Company of Virginia is a subsidiary of Chicagobased Centel Corporation, which also operates telephone companies in eight other states and is a major force in cable television, cellular mobile radio and the design, sale and installation of business communications systems.
