Roy James found a huge hornet’s nest at the home of Mrs. Ritchie Colvin near Amissville. The nest measured 47 inches in circumference.
The annual banquet for the Amissville Fire Company and guests will be held this year on Friday evening, March 18. The Ladies Auxiliary to the fire company serves the dinner.
Snow laden limbs and twigs of the trees Sunday morning produced an intricate design. With the mixture of snow and sleet aided by dipping temperatures the precipitation clung to everything though brisk winds fanned the countryside.

perintendent of Schools for Warren and Rappahannock Counties, has announced plans for a Teachers’ Drug Education Workshop Course to be conducted during January and February. Forty-five selected teachers, principals and supervisors from the two counties will participate in three workshop sessions scheduled for Warren County High School on January 22, February 9 and February 20.
Frank Huff of Flint Hill, operating a 61 Ford struck and killed a deer on Rt. 211 just west of the Washington By-Pass Monday morning. Trooper W. A. Buntin estimated the damage to the vehicle at $150.

At a special meeting of the
Washington Town Council called Friday by Mayor Newbill Miller, a state of emergency was declared as the town’s water supply dwindled. Charlie Jenkins, a councilman who is also in charge of the water system, reported only five feet of water in the reservoir, probably enough to last through the weekend.
