Yes, walnut trees have the potential for being valuable. Most are not. Walnut logs have occasionally sold for more than $10,000. A single log can be sliced into acres of veneer that is 1/64 inch thick. The trees make fine lumber that is used in furniture and cabinet making. One drawback is that walnut notoriously grows in and on the fringes of pasture. Sawmills have run across barbed wire, nails, and an occasional horseshoe when sawing the logs.
