Rappahannock farmers invited
On Jan. 25, the Culpeper County Farm Bureau is sponsoring a multi-county meeting with the ASCS and Soil Conservation Service on the topic “Government Farm Policies in 1988 - How will they affect us?”
Mahlon K. Rudy, ASCS state executive director, and Bruce A. Julian, state resource conservationist, will speak on the current status of the 1985 Farm Bill and what is expected of farmers. Discussion will include sodbuster provisions, 0-92, comprehensive farm plans and more. There will be a question and answer period before refreshments.
The meeting will be held at the Culpeper Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 7:30 p.m. Rappahannock farmers are invited along with farmers from Culpeper, Orange, Madison, Greene and Fauquier.
Democrats caucus Jail. 26
The Democratic Committee will meet at the courthouse at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, to elect officers and to make preparations for Super Tuesday primary March 8.
Fashion show planned
The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will sponsor a fashion show on the theme “Luck of the Irish” at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at the Rappahannock Elementary School. Advance tickets and/or patron ads may be purchased from any member. '
Teacher training workshop
Dr. Denise Hershkowitz Horton, a licenced clinical psychologist in private practice in Washington, D.C., and Rappahannock County, has been invited to present an in-service teacher training workshop for the Child Care and Learning Center on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 10-1 p.m.
The workshop entitled “Creativity and Kids” will focus on the development and nurture of the creative process in the pre-school child, and will utilize case studies and sample lesson plans to provide participants with a “hands-on” learning experience. Dr. Horton specializes in working with the creative process, and recently was an invited speaker on early childhood development and the creative process at the seventh annual Common Boundary Conference on Psychotherapy and Spirituality in Washington, D.C.
This workshop is open to interested professionals in the community. Participants are invited to bring a brown bag lunch. To register contact the Child Care and Learning Center at 675-3237.
