It is proposed that the Comprehensive Plan be amended in several areas to call for the placement of electrical and telephone utility service underground, and for the removal, as feasible, of the present system of overhead utility lines.

AMENDMENT TO THE TOWN OF WASHINGTON, VIRGINIA

ZONING ORDINANCE

It is proposed to amend Section 1 -4-3(c) and f-4-4(d) of the Zoning Ordinance to add the work “public” before the word “utilities", and to amend Section 1-5-3 of the Ordinance to provide that the installation of underground public utilities to permitted structures or uses in the Town shall be considered to be part of the permitted structure or use, and shall require no additional permits. The same Section is proposed to be amended to provide that the Zoning Administrator may approve temporary above-ground utility service to a permitted structure during a period of construction.
