The Rappahannock County Library recently was awarded a grant from the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and Public Policy to offer a series of lectures and discussions of four novels and to show and discuss the films based on them.
The $950 grant, which matches donations from the Friends of the Library and in-kind contributions from community members, will pay lecturers’ fees, film rental and promotion of the series.
The four novels, all written in the 1950s, were chosen to illustrate the moral climate they reflect and to explore their relevance today. Series title is “Moral Survival - Fiction of the Fifties.”
On Monday, Feb. 29, Joel Foreman, George Mason University English professor, will be keynote speaker and lecturer on The Man in the Grey Fannel Suit by Sloan Wilson.
