Robert Gowell
Robert P. Gowell, 67, a founder and former president of the Scan furniture store chain and a past president of the Fairfax Unitarian Church, died of cancer Sept. 3 at his home, Black Water Homestead, Boston.
Mr. Gowell was the son of the late Eleanor Preston and Robert E. Gowell.
Mr. Gowell, who lived in the Washington area from 1944 to 1980, was a native of New Jersey. He attended the University of Missouri journalism school.
