Herman Atkins ;
Herman Hoover “Smokey” Atkins, 57, of Front Royal died Sept. 2 in the Warren Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Atkins was bom Nov. St, 1930 in Sperryville, the son of Maggie Atkins of Front Royal and the late John Atkins. He was a self-employed building contractor and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving with his mother are his wife, Elizabeth Butler Atkins; three sons, Ricky Herman Atkins, Donnie Ray Atkins and Johnny Dwayne Atkins, all of Front Royal; two sisters, Pauline Atkins, Linden and Shirley Kirby, Front Royal; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sept. 4 at the Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home in Front Royal. Burial was in Rockland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Raymond Lee Murphy, Duane Murphy, Mike Slaughter, Charles Butler, Tonyi Green and Gary Clark.
