Stamer said, “so many things th*t you can do. You’ve just got to think about it. They might not all work, but if you don’t try you’ll never know.”
But for Mrs. Stamer, the opportunity to save space in the landfill, while also saving raw materials and energy, is incentive enough to get the recycling concept going in Rappahannock. “What if we saved one year - maybe more - of life at the landfill?”
And, with the county being paid for the recycled materials collected by the contractor, the money thus returned to the county coffers could also be recycled - to help defray the costs of the landfill operation itself. “This could end up making money for the county,” Mrs. Stamer said. “That would help every taxpayer in the county.”
