Mrs. Stamer said that KALbi plans to pursue other recycling possibilities in the future, including:
• adding plastics to the list of materials accepted for recycling.
• exploring the possibility of providing collection for tires, which currently cannot be disposed of legally anywhere in Rappahannock County.
• if there is interest enough, providing containers for businesses to recycle into. She noted that restaurants, for example, use large numbers of glass jars and cans. If the containers could be conveniently located and provisions made for collection, she suggested, the material recycled could be a major savings.
• check into the possibility of locating other recycling points at other areas of the county. Again, this would provide more convenient access to residents who live some distance from Amissville.
• volunteer helpers at the recycling center to assist elderly and handicapped residents in getting their recyclables into the proper bins.
Mrs. Stamer also noted that the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department continues to maintain its newspaper recycling trailer, located behind the fire hall on Rt. 211.
She also said that the Virginia Department of Transportation has agreed to assist in the clean up of an illegal dump site on Rt. 707 just west of its intersection with Rt. 231.
Mrs. Stamer asked that any county residents who have suggestions or comments about RALLY’S • plans should call her at 675-3810. Offers of volunteer help with any of RALLY’S activities will also be gratefully accepted, she added.
