Fashion show planned

The Rappahannock Woman’s Club annual fashion show will be held on Sunday, March 11 at 2 p.m. at Rappahannock County Elementary School. This year’s theme Country Reflections will feature fashions from Frank’s and Warren Quality in Front Royal and Peebles in Warrenton. Tickets may be purchased from any member or contact Chairperson Barbara Burke at 987-8058.

Dancing at Blackwater Creek

The monthly contra, folk and square dancing will happen at Blackwater Homestead on Thursday night, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. Instruction vdll be provided for all dancers. Newcomers welcome. For further information call Sid Gottlieb at 547-3934 or Jan Zindel at 937-5407.

Business Council to meet

The Sperryville Business Council will meet on Sunday, March 11 at 6 p.m. at The Woodsmoke Cafe. All members and interested business persons are urged to attend.

Student art needed

From March 9 through April 1 the Middle Street Gallery will present “Emerging Artists: The Five County High School Show.” This exhibit includes 40 paintings, sculpture, and photography by high school students from the counties of Rappahannock, Fauquier, Warren, Madison and Culpeper. The concept of the show is to give serious young artists a professional experience, from entering a juried exhibition, to helping hang the show, and offering their work for sale. The opening is on Sunday, March 11, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. when jurors awards will be presented. Gallery hours are Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For further information, call the gallery at (703) 675-3440.

'Parenthood'

The movie Parenthood will be playing at the Gay Street Theater on Friday and Saturday, March 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Please note that due to the John Hammond concert, the movie will be held Friday and Sunday instead of Saturday and Sunday. The movie is rated PG-13. Also the popcorn machine has been repaired.

RAA baseball registration

Registration for Rappahannock Athletic Association baseball season will be held March 10 from 9 a.m. until noon at Amissville fire hall and Rappahannock Elementary School. Teams are Tee Ball ages 6-7 and must be 6 by August 1, 1990; Minors ages 8-9 and some 10 for first timers; Bambinos ages 10-12 and Babe Ruth ages 13-15. If you have not registered before, you must bring proof of age. Registration fee is $15. For more information call Billy Dodson at 937-4353.
