WHAT CAN WE DO FOR GOD
Lent is such and interesting religious season, you meet many well meaning Christians that talk about what they are going to give up for Lent. The question that we must ask ourselves is, are we doing this for Lent? Or for our Savior and Lord. If we are indeed giving something up for the sake of Jesus Christ and because He took our place on the dreaded cross then what we give up during Lent will not resume after Lent.
Do you really want to do something for God? Do you really want to give something to Him? If this is your sincere desire and not just the accepted religious attitude during the Lent Season then let’s take a look at the most perfect example ever of someone giving something up! In the Holy Scriptures we find in the book of Romans Chapter 8 verse 32 these remarkable words, "He who did not spare His own son, but gave Him up for us all-how will He not also along with Him, graciously give us all things?"
What did God give up during Lent? His own dear perfect son! He watched from heaven while Jesus was crucified in our place, somehow I don’t think God is to impressed with the historical practice of the church to have its members give up bad habits or whatever for a period of 40 days only to anxiously resume after resurrection day.
Jesus asked Peter three times the question we musLask ourselves daily, Do You Love Me? If you do, the world will know it, more importantly God will know it. The greatest gift we can give this Lent Season is to love God with all our heart, with all our understanding, and with all our strength. Offer yourself as a Living Gift to God.
