The supervisors also heard a report from School Superintendent David Gangel about decreased state aid for schools in the upcoming school budget. He said that he would not be certain about amounts until the General Assembly adjourned, but “the budget picture is not optimistic, because of a drop in enroll-' ment and it is a tight budget year.”
County Administrator John McCarthy also reported on the General Assembly action on bills the supervisors had voted to oppose. Delegate Clinton Miller’s (R-Shenandoah) bill which requires that 19.5 foot wide skirted mobile homes must be allowed in Agricultural zoning districts passed “despite violent opposition from rural counties. The urban legislators pushed this down our throats.” Two “vesting” bills, which define when certain rights accrue to subdivided property, also passed, he said.
