Richmond's Mummies to play on lawn of the Warren Green
The Ululating Mummies will perform at the second Bluemont Summer Concert of the 1992 season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 11 on the lawn of the Warren Green Building in Old Town Warrenton.
Richmond's famed underground band is a bit difficult to describe. The Mummies is a dance band with musical roots in reggae, jazz, Latin, African, Appalachian, Irish, Balkan and Icelandic music.
The Mummies' performances are generally described as theatrical and festive events combining an unusual mix of music, fashion and comedy.
"Don't miss the Mummies," said Peter Dunning, Bluemont's executive director. "They are an experience."
A $3 donation is requested. In the event of bad weather, the concert will be held indoors at Taylor Junior High School. Information will be broadcast over local radio stations.
