Miss Bright was taken to Fairfax Hospital by the AirCare med-evac helicopter, where she died. A 16year-old Washington, Va. resident who was a passenger in her car suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized. Jackson was not injured.
Knick said no charges will be filed as a result of the accident. He reported that he was unable to determine whether Miss Bright was wearing a seat belt, and the passenger was not wearing a restraint.
In the construction zone, the divided eastbound lanes of U.S. 211 are closed, and a new traffic pattern of a single lane in both directions has been in effect for several months. Monday’s wreck was the second serious accident in that area in the past month, according to State Police reports.
Miss Bright was the second highway fatality in Rappahannock County this year. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at presstime.
