On Saturday Jeff and Theresa Light opened up their home and yard for an old-fashioned 4th of July celebration for the Woodville community.
It was well attended with many people meeting their neighbors for the first time. The festivities included grill cooking, with many side dishes, soft drinks, lemonade, various games, including volleyball and horseshoes. Children romped in the manicured lawn or played on the rope swing.
The Lights had arranged string music with John Triplett of Culpeper playing the baryo for a group singalong led by Jeff, who ended that part with the group singing God Bless America.
Fireworks and a bon fire climaxed the evening. The gracious hosts invited many to see their renovated 18th century house. It was the consensus that this was the best celebration Woodville ever had.
Bonnie Brown of Germantown, Md. was the weekend guest of her mother Chloe Brown. On Saturday evening Mrs. Brown and Miss Brown visited Mabel Gore at Sperryville.
Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Sisk of Culpeper were Thursday guests of Ada Burke. Mrs. Sisk remained for several days visit with Mrs. Burke. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin P. Grigsby of Castleton were Saturday guests of Mrs. Burke.
On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sykes of Culpeper were visitors of Mrs. Sykes’ mother Audra Crawford. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Ray Crawford and son Charles of Flint Hill were guests of Mr. Crawford’s mother Audra Crawford.
Philip Daczewitz of Shepherdstown, W.Va. and Erin O’Hara of Hanover, Pa. were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Daczewitz and Derek.
