BLACKSBURG — This year’s rains made most lawns grow so fast that you could almost see them get taller. That means more mowing and more grass clippings.
“Save those clippings and put them in use in a compost pile,” said David Chalmers, Cooperative Extension specialist in turf at Virginia Tech.
“Besides being a good source of organic matter for gardens and flower beds, composting is an excellent way to dispose of garden debris, leaves, and similar plant materials to reduce the amount going into the landfill.”
