Now that warm weather is upon us, dermatologists offer advice on how to treat and avoid the rashes commonly associated with the summer and the great outdoors. The American Academy of Dermatology has prepared a list of the most common warm weather rashes and the best methods of treatments.

1. Prickly heat. While prickly heat, or heat rash, is most common in babies, adults can get it too, especially when the weather is hot and humid. The proper medical name for this rash is miliaria.

The tiny reddish pimples of prickly heat usually appear on skin folds in the crook of the arm, under the chin on the chest or back, or on the back of the knee. The best cure, say dermatologists, is to stay cool and dry and avoid tight fitting clothing. Be sure to dry your skin thoroughly after bathing and dust on a talc-free cornstarch-based body
