Mrs. Philip Brewer gave a brief review of the National Defense Committee’s previous comments on the treatment of the American flag and the Supreme Court’s previous decisions concerning the flag’s desecration.
Mrs. Thomas Eastham and Mrs. Dale Metzinger represented the Chapter at the 91st Continental Congress in April in Washington and reported that Mrs. H.T.N. Graves, immediate past Virginia State Regent, was one of seven elected as a Vice President General from the group of 19 running for those positions.
The installation of the new officers for the next three years was conducted by Mrs. Ralph R. Coffman, the incoming District VI Director. These new officers are: Regent, Mrs. Thomas L. Eastham; 1st Vice Regent, Mrs. Dieter Knuepfer; 2nd Vice Regent, Mrs. Irvin Kilby; Chaplain, Mrs. Randolph T. Dixon; Recording Secretary, Mrs. James Weaver; Corresponding Secretary, Mrs. Philip Brewer; Treasurer, Mrs. Z.R. Gutowski; Registrar, Mrs. Dale Metzinger; Historian, Mrs. Eugene Ryan; Librarian, Mrs. Woodruff Kearns.
