I would like to correct some information which was conveyed in the article “Day By Day” written by Walter Day (my Dad) in last week’s paper (7/2/92). In his essay, Pop gave credit (implicitly) to Englebert Humperdink as the writer of the line “Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.” That line is from the song “Me and Bobby McGee” which was written by Kris Kristofferson. Many people may remember Janis Joplin as the performer who made the song a hit. It was news to me that Englebert Humperdink (he stole the name) recorded a version of the song.
Oh yes, the opinions expressed by my dad do not necessarily reflect those of his offspring, especially where the presidential elections are concerned. No doubt my republican friends will be dismayed by my opinion that there is only one candidate less desirable than Ross Perot.
