This will never be more evident than at this Sunday’s opening of “Artists and Friends,” a show designed to allow a look at some of our area’s seldom-shown artists.
As the name of the show indicates, a Gallery artist invites a friend to exhibit alongside him or her in the Gallery. Interestingly, the interpretation of “friend” has been as wide as the appreciation of art forms.
Lois Manookian has invited one of her students to exhibit watercolors with her.
Superb wood sculptor Sandra Burton’s “friend” is her 25-year-old son, whose mounted rider painting reflects his passion for hunting with the Rappahannock Hunt.
This coupling of friends and art make for what show curator Nina Moore calls a “warm and fuzzy” show.
Try not to miss the official opening from 3 to 6 p.m. this Sunday at the Middle St. Gallery.

Ruth Purnell participated with other dance class members of the Northern Virginia Academy of Dance in Front Royal in an “I Love Dance” competition Sunday at the McLean Hilton.
The group won first place for “Waltz of the Flowers” from the Nutcrackers^knd second place for the “Spanish Dance” also from the Nutcradsefs.
Ruth is the daughter of Robin and Jon Purnell of Washington.
