“We’ve operated with this almost medieval system,” member Roberta Anderson said.
The library has received a donation of the equipment for the twoline system with intercom, The board voted to ask the Friends of the Rappahannock Library for the funds to install the equipment. The only remaining cost is the monthly operating cost from the telephone company.
The board agreed to meet again this Thursday morning for more work on the budget.
Halley Morgan reported that the book sale over the Presidents’ Day weekend netted about $1,200 for the Friends. She said she would also coordinate the Fourth of July booksale, and said that she felt future sales should be during tiihes when there is an event in Washington that the library can coordinate with.
Mrs. Jamieson asked if it would be possible to have the booksale upstairs in the community room. “Above ground is much more inviting,” she said. With the narrow stacks in the basement, “It was a fanny to fanny operation,” she added.
Mrs. Morgan said she felt this would be possible if the number of books for sale could be weeded down first.
