Mrs. Peacock feels so strongly about keeping up the tradition that she plans to continue waving at the speedy BMWs. “Maybe they caught a glimpse of my wave as they passed. Maybe it touched their minds or hearts, and they thought of it later. Maybe it changed something in them, just a little,” she added.
Bob and Pat Maldoven, whp spent 20 years visiting their property in Rappahannock before retiring to it last year, say that seeing somebody waving at you in the suburbs of Washington D.C. would make you think, “What are they up to? What do they want?”
Out here, though, they’ve come to like it. “We used to say they were waving at the round stickers (the former shape of Rappahannock’s vehicle stickers),” says Mrs. Maldoven.
