Her major job duty is to perform , soil studies on property where construction is planned. She uses an auger to bore into the earth to obtain a soil sample. The soil is studied to see if the land “perks,” meaning the soil is suitable for a drainfield. Ms. Lowry then designs the drainfield system based on the soil. On the average, it takes one and one-half hours to do a soil sample for each site.
