This year, Shenandoah National Park is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Stony Man Camp, the rustic mountain resort that would become popular as “Skyland.”
The public is welcome to join the commemorative celebration at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 16 at the Skyland Conference Hall, mile 41.7 on Skyline Drive. Former employees of Skyland, guests who frequented the resort prior to the establishment of the Park, and the general public are invited to be on hand for this notable occasion. Refreshments will be served.
The celebration will include a welcome by Shenandoah National Park Superintendent J.W. “Bill” Wade, a brief history of Skyland, small group tours of Massanutten Lodge and a ranger-guided walking tour of the “Old Skyland” area.
