Funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 12 at Clore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Milton Switzer. Burial was in Culpeper National Cemetery with full military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Amiss ville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
Charles Hitt
Charles William Hitt, 84, of Castleton died Tuesday, Sept. 6 at his residence.
He was bom Oct. 9, 1909, to the late William and Delsie Hitt.
Mr. Hitt was a member of Hope Hill Baptist Church.
He owned and operated Hitt’s Lumber Sawmill.
He is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Cline of Cape Coral, Fla., Dorothy Scott of Castleton and Ruby Jimenez of Vienna; two sons, Glenn H. Hitt and James H. Hitt, both of Castleton; four brothers, Downing Hitt of Castleton, Taylor Hitt, Turner Hitt and Arthur Hitt, all of Culpeper and four sisters, Lucille Dellinger of Alexandria, Erma Jenkins of Washington, Lena Shifflett of Barboursville and Annie Weakley of Culpeper.
Additional survivors include 20 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild.
Mr. Hitt is preceded in death by his wife, Sally Lee Hitt; one son, Charles William Hitt, Jr.; two sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 9 at Hope Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Milton J. Switzer, Sr. officiating.
Interment followed in Sperryville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Glenn Hitt, Jr., Chris Hitt, Stuart Hitt, Brian Scott, Mitchell Hitt and Dr. B. Brooks Woodward.
