In Mailbox Arson
Patrick Allen is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and successful conviction of whoever is responsible for burning the mailbox at his Canterbury Cottage on Route 647 in Fauquier County.
Mr. Allen said the mailbox, a three-foot by three-foot by threefoot reproduction of the main house on his property, had a thatched roof. It was supported by four two-bythree posts and cost over $1,000. “It looks like someone poured gasoline on it and set it afire,” he said.
Mr. Allen said his farm is frequently used by both Rappahannock and Fauquier school groups, and the mailbox was a landmark they used to find the place. He said children from the Child Care and Learning Center and groups from Spring Mountain School had visited the farm.
