Committee member John Hartline said Mrs. Lynch should also be credited with a training program for library volunteers that included training them on the computerized circulation system.
The asssistant librarian Elizabeth Jones, who also served as the children’s librarian, resigned last month, and Mrs. Lynch had been receiving applications for that parttime job. Mrs. Anderson said the committee would put the job of filling that position “on hold until a library director is hired so the new library director can have a hand in selecting the new children’s librarian.”
Some of those applicants have masters degrees in library science and will be encouraged to apply for the full-time librarian’s position.
Mrs. Lynch said, “I’m excited about the new position. It seems tailor made.” It will involve public relations, fundraising, developing a “Friends” group, computerizing and developing a core of volunteers.
“I really have enjoyed working in Rappahannock County,” Mrs. Lynch continued. “I have met a lot of nice people and have made a lot of friends, and I certainly will miss them.”
