In the Manassas Park game, the girls were down 3-10 after the first quarter, and led by one point at the half. “They were playing tough defense. It took every one wanting it more than the other team to win,” said Coach Conklin. Top scorers were Janet Hitt with 18 points, Jessica Arnold with 14 and Susan Jewell with five.
The team put up a good fight against Luray, coming back from being down 26-18 at the half, and tying the score in the third quarter, but ended up losing 43-55. Jessica Arnold led the scoring with 24 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Janet Hitt scored 13 points and had four steals.
“I was really proud they caught up. They really went after it. The clock ran out on us, though,” said Coach Conklin.
The next home game will be against Strasburg on next Friday, ij The junior varsity game begins at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity game.
