Service

Questioned

To the Editor:

Service and courtesy! Two items which seem to be missing from the menu at the Appetite Repair Shop in SperryviUe. Why? Is this not the only thing a restaurant has to offer? We certainly have the ability to feed ourselves at home, we do buy groceries and have appliances with which to prepare the food of our taste. Then for what reason do we get dressed, climb into our vehicles and drive several miles to town where we patronize a restaurant? Service! Surely, not for the thrill of spending money.

For this reason, is it too much to ask for breakfast at 10:50 a. m., when the sign reads “served till 11 a.m.,” or when ordering a sandwich and you ask for it to be served “open faced," should you be subjected to ridicule, threatened, embarrassed arid nearly physically ejected from this restaurant by the proprietor, while his young, female staff watch with gapping mouths and shocked expressions. The fact that this happened on Aug. 31, which happens to be my birthday and the day my loving wife was planning to treat me to breakfast, does not reduce the hurt and displeasure, experienced at the hands of restaurant owner who evidently does not understand the word, “service.”

Is breakfast such a difficult meal that it can only be served between 8 a.m and 11 a.m.? Is it really that hard to shift gears back for forth betweert lunch and breakfast: eggs or burgers? toast or buns? coffee or tea? I mean, let’s worry about something really important like death, taxes or the price of ihay this year, but eggs? We are paying for the 11 service so why can’t we get any?

Thanked

To the Editor

I would like to personally thank Lee Bird, Susan Fox, Libby Whetzel and Ted Chapman from the Literacy Volunteers for their great help in preparing me for the GED exam.

If not for those dedicated people I would not have received my GED diploma. '
