Letters are going out to county residents informing them of their new addresses.
These addresses are being given out so that a call to the dispatch center in the Sheriffs office can be tied by computer to the location of the building from which the call came. The dispatchers can use this information to send fire trucks, ambulances or sheriffs deputies to the correct location to respond to an emergency.
For those who receive their n^ail on rural routes, these will indeed be their new adI dresses. Those who receive their mail at post office boxes will not have an address change, but will need to put up signs indicating their E911 address to assist > emergency vehicles in finding their house. » The letters say the signs should be on the houses. In fact, if the house sits back from the road, the signs should be where they will be visible from the road, County Administrator John McCarthy said.
