Theatre’s “The Kings Play” follows the show at the Rappahannock County Extension office. “The Three Kings Play” begins at 5 p.m. at Ki Theatre, so the reception will offer a chance to socialize between shows for folks who would like to attend both. A $2 per person donation is requested for the reception.

Dickens first visited American in 1842, when he and his wife took a steamer (“not unlike a child’s Noah’s ark informed with the machinery on the top of the roof,”) from Washington, D.C. down the Potomac River to a steamboat landing on Potomac Creek in Stafford County. There they boarded one of seven stage coaches to Fredericksburg, then caught a train to Richmond. Dickens visited Richmond to see a working plantation with slaves.
