Charlie and Fran Eldred, proprietors of Washington House of Reproductions in Washington, see this weekend’s Colonial Christmas in Washington as an opportunity to raise money for Shannon from local businesses. The Eldreds mailed out a letter on Nov. 25 to members of the Washington Business Council, challenging those businesses to donate a percentage of their business during the Colonial Christmas weekend. The Eldreds will be donating ten percent of their weekend income.
Along with their letter, the Eldreds included a sheet of paper for business owners to display, indicating what percentage would be donated to Shannon from the weekend’s receipts and a copy of the article and photograph from last week’s newspaper on Shannon and her family. /
In the Eldreds’ letter, they said, “The goal...should be easily attainable if we all join in the effort. We can make Disney World a reality for a child who may not have another Christmas.”
