For Child's Trip

Help from the community is pouring in for Shannon Shrader.
An article ran in last week’s issue of the Rappahannock News telling of the plight of six year-old Shannon Shrader, who was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor this past summer. Her family hopes to take her on a trip to Disney World, and the Rappahannock community has been very generous in seeing that she gets that wish. Disney has donated the tickets for admission to the park for Shannon, her parents and sister, and local airline people are working to get tickets for the family. Donations will go for lodging and spending money, and for the airline tickets if they are not donated.
In a letter to the editor of the Rappahannock News this week, Sherry Hamill-Huff reported that the County Fire and Rescue Association has pledged $100, and that amount was matched by the Castleton, Flint Hill and Amissville companies. She said that the other companies in the county need approval from their members before pledging any money, but she expects they will also meet the challenge. Mrs. Hamill-Huff said, “It makes me so proud to be a member of such a truly community-oriented organization.
Hazel Zinn-Day, who is in charge of the fundraising, said that the response to the article about Shannon has been really good. She received a call from Jane Malian, president of the local Project Rainbow organization, offering the non-profit status of Project
