Fran Eldred, dressed in colonial garb, will present a fascinating history of the town with stops at three houses along the way. The tours will include the ballroom at the Eldred’s Washington House and the log-cabin homes of Louise van Dort and Ray Gooch. The walk through town is free, but tickets will be needed for the houses. They will cost $2 per house or a block ticket for all three for $5. Children’s block tickets are $1. Hot apple cider will be served at one of the houses; which one will be determined by the weather. Tickets can be purchased at the Historical Society or at the individual houses. The tours begin at the Historical Society building and end at the Town Hall.
Music is important to any Christmas celebration, and Colonial Christmas is no exception. The weekend should provide a wide variety of carolers. Don Nielson is again organizing a group in colonial dress to stroll through the town offering music to visitors and residents alike. He said they would be out from 3 to 6 p.m. both days.
They will sing at the Town Hall between performances by the Colonial Dancers and then go out into the street. They will be singing in fi*ont of shops or wherever people have gathered. The group varies from seven to eight members and includes one person playing a “colonial lute,” Mr. Nielson said.
The choir from the First Baptist Church will also offer carols for guests Sunday afternoon., and county Girl Scouts will be caroling. Saturday afternoon starting at 1:30 at the Washing
