Graveside services were held on Friday, Nov. 25 at Amissville Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Everett and Rev. David C. Baird officiating.

Hazel Fannon

Hazel Massimo Fannon, 87, of Castleton died Saturday, Nov. 26 at her home. She was bom Dec. 12, 1906, in New York City to the late Leo and Ada Massimo.

Mrs. Fannon was a devoted mother and was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and St. Peters Catholic Church, the Rappahannock Garden Club and the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary in Alexandria.

Mrs. Fannon is survived by two sons, Chester W. Fannon, Jr. of Castleton and David L. Fannon of Amissville and one daughter, Roselyn F. Rothrock of Castleton.

She is also survived by one borther, Archie Massimo of Alexandria and one sister, Eleanor Whitfield of Hilo, Hawaii.

Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, Chester W. Fannon III of Alexandria, Elizabeth Swindler of Sperryville, Heather Young of Amissville, David L. Fannon Jr. of Flint Hill, John C. Fannon of Alexandria, Lance Corporal James H. Rothrock V of Maysville, N.C. and Michael P. Rothrock of Castleton and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Fannon was preceded in death by her husband Chester W. Fannon Sr.

A mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Father Leo Zonneveld officiating.

Interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria.
