Teachers also requested a light in the back parking lot at the high school, a district computer coordinator and more money for computer repair. At the high school they also requested report cards every nine weeks, rather than six weeks, and additional class offerings in the fine arts.
School Superintendent David Gangel said, “I would agree these are reasonable requests.” However he said the county cannot expect much increase in funding from the state, which means that funds for the requests would have to come from local taxes. The 3 percent raises given to school employees last year cost $116,000, he said. If current projections hold up the county could expect to get an additional $112,000 from the state.
