The board heard a report on the foreign language instruction from French teacher Cindy Wayland and Spanish teacher Liz Blubaugh. They described very active programs. Mrs. Wayland asked the board to consider adding German and said she is certified to teach it. Mrs. Blubaugh said she teaches nearly one third of the students in the school. She said she would like to add Spanish 4 next year.

Dr. Gangel presented the board with a report on staffing and the growth of special education programs. He said one student who had been attending a special program in Fauquier County is now in Rappahannock County, but another new student was placed in a special regional program for severely emotionally disturbed children in Orange, and the school system has to supply a teacher’s aide to transport that child.
