Before their regular meeting board members conducted interviews with candidates to replace Robert Chappell as assistant superintendent and for Margarita Piper’s position as pupil personnel director. Mrs. Piper will be retiring at the end of June.

The board agreed to pay for several items for the addition out of a contingency fund set up from bond monies. Dr. Gangel recommended they add a sidewalk and sod to prevent erosion and children splashing through mud, a barrier around disconnect boxes, and telephones and an intercom for each classroom. The wiring for this was included in the construction.

Board Chairman Beverly Massie said he should also purchase a generator to operate in the case of a power failure to keep circulator pumps going in the heating and air conditioning system going.
