The announcement of USD A O Consolidated Farm Service Agency streamlining by Secretray of Agriculture Mike Espy will have significant impact in the State of Virginia.
According to Donald A. Davis, Acting State Executive Director, the Consolidated Farm Service Agency will combine 33 offices in the State of Virginia. The Consolidated Farm Service Agency (formerly known as ASCS) currently maintains 85 county offices in the State. As a result of the USD A reorganization legislation 52 USD A Service Centers will be established throughout Virginia. Mr. Davis indicated that these centers would be composed of two or three USD A agencies in each location. These agencies are the Consolidated Farm Service Agency (formerly ASCS), Rural Economic Community Development Service (formerly FmHA), and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (formerly SCS).
