He said as long as the county is not under a lot of development pressure, they don’t have to worry if the process takes them into next summer. “If we were having a lot of development, it would be hard to work with a 6-year-old Comprehensive Plan,” he said. /
Mr. Massie noted the planners had received a letter from a resident suggesting the county work to decrease the use of herbicides and pesticides. He said, “That’s not something Rappahannock County or any county can regulate.” He said the Extension office provides information for farmers who want to farm organically as well as those who use conventional farming.
Ms. Pierce said letting people make such suggestions for anything they may want may “raise expectations” the planners can not meet.
Mr. Massie suggested future meetings be ones where the planners can respond to suggestions. He said suggestions that the county not allow any more road improvements are impossible and the planners need to let people know that.
Mr. Junk said the only way to prevent road improvements would be to not allow anybody else to live in the county, since development creates the demand for improved roads.
