Belle Grove Plantation was built for one of the leaders of the Shenandoah Valley’s Anglo-German community, Isaac Hitt, Jr., in 1794. The design of the house was influenced by Thomas Jefferson’s architectural genius. Isaac Hite, Jr., was also the brother-in-law of James Madison.
Belle Grove Plantation is a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Tours runs from mid-March through the end of October. Tours are conducted from 10:15 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily; Sundays, 1:15 to 4:15 p.m. There is an admission charge, group rates by arrangements. Call 869-2028 for additional information.
