Henry had a loudspeaker gadget attached to the RV and as the vehicle moved along could address various folks who might be walking along streets or highways. No crowd was too small for him to say to a sometimes startled audience, “This is Henry Howell, folks, running for governor, running to get your electric bills under control, running against the big boys to serve the people...”
Nothing was more fun than when Howell pulled up to a country store, asked the owner’s permission to put his campaign posters in the window, got someone to snap a Polaroid picture of the owner and whatever customers were available with him, and then got the owner to prominently display the memento of Howell’s visit.
