Peter W. Arundel has been elected president of Times Community Newspapers in Northern Virginia, the company which owns and publishes the Rappahannock News.
Currently the company's vice president of sales and marketing, Mr. Arundel replaces Arthur W. "Nick” Arundel, who founded Arcom Publishing in 1960 and will continue in his roles as chairman and publisher.
Arcom, a privately held company headquartered near Herndon, is the Times Community Newspapers' par, ent company.
Peter Arundel, 35, graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in English.
After two years as an account executive with WTOP Newsradio in Washington, he joined the family newspaper company, starting as a salesman in the commercial printing operation in 1978. He later was named general manager of the Fauquier Times-Demucrat, where he instituted editorial changes that led to the newspaper being named the state's best laroe wpeklv n:irv*r for thri»<* rnnwu.
