DCI, parent company of the Connection, filed for Chapter 1 1 bankruptcy protection in 1993 and has yet to submit a reorganization plan that is acceptable to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Alexandria.
“It’s been quite a ride in Fairfax County,” Mr. Arundel said. “It’s an honor to work with such talented people. I look forward to the challenges ahead.”
In other action, the company’s Board of Directors named David L. Smith, currently vice president ol operations, as senior vice president.
Arcom, a diversified communications company that recently began electronic publishing on the Internet, prints 16 community newspapers with a circulation of 190,000 in the Washington suburbs. Newspapers in the group include three of the oldest papers in Virginia and the nation. They are the 195-year-old Loudoun Times Mirror in Leesburg, the 178year-old Fauquier Times-Democrat in Warrenton and the Providence Journal and McLean Times in Fairfax County.
Other newspapers published by the company include: the Reston Times. Herndon Times. Vienna Times, Great Falls Times, Chantilly Times, Centreville Times, Springfield Times Courier, Fairfax Times, Fairfax Station Times, Burke Times, Eastern Loudoun Times and the Clark Courier.
