Ethel Bailey of Washington, treasurer.
The next meeting of the commit* tee will be at 7:30 p.m. on Monday Jan. 8, 1996, at the Courthouse. As in all Democratic Party meetings, this one will be open to the public. Chairman Schmidt urged others who are interested to attend and to consider joining the committee. Mr. Schmidt’s telephone is 987-8410. Anyone is welcome to call him.
Democrats attributed the size of the reorganization meeting and renewed interest in the party to the enthusiasm engendered by Sue Scheer’s campaign for House of Delegates and the statewide success of the of the Democrats in turning back the Republican attempt to capture the House of Delegates and the State Senate. The effort in the November election on the part of Margaret White and Franklin Schmidt resulted in their contest for party chair. Chairman Schmidt promised to work to keep the party invigorated, anticipating the major elections that will occur in 1996 and 1997.
